Our patients value the service & treatments we provide and benefit from improved comfort and foot function, maintaining mobility and stress-free walking. We look forward to welcoming you and offering you the care and treatment you need for your feet.
The clinic has recently moved premises after fifteen years in practice on Mary Street, Scunthorpe.
We are now based in Scawby, where free off-road parking is available. The practice serves the surrounding areas of North Lincolnshire, situated close to the towns of Scunthorpe, Brigg & villages such as Hibaldstow, Redbourne, Kirton Lindsey & many more.
I completed a Batchelor of science degree in Podiatry at the University of Huddersfield in 1998, employed by the NHS for eight years, until deciding to branch out into the private sector in April 2006.
I am a A HCPC registered podiatrist with over 25 years’ experience and a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
SUPPLIER OF FOOTCARE PRODUCTS WITH BRANDS INCLUDING:
TREATMENTS
We provide a range of treatments following assessment and diagnosis this may range from simple toe nail cutting, callus reduction, ingrowing toe nails, verruca, diabetic assessment & orthotic /innersole manufacture. Please call to discuss your particular foot health needs & book an appointment. Unfortunately we cannot give advice over the telephone in most cases, as we really need to see you and assess the problem visually along with taking a relevant medical history.
The below treatments are only a sample of the most common issues that we deal with on a daily basis. An individual treatment plan will be formalised to meet your particular individual needs.
Callus
Callus or hard skin as it is otherwise known is caused by friction and shearing forces between the skin and our footwear. It can be painful, treatment will reduce the build-up & advice on maintenance to reduce its
re-occurrence will be discussed.
Cracked Heels
Particularly painful as with every step we can be opening up the skin more. These cracks in the skin can be a cause of a secondary infection if not treated and advice is paramount on how to manage such lesions in the long term.
Corns
These can be soft or hard in nature dependent on where they form. They are usually formed due to high pressure over one specific area. Consideration needs to be given to the causative factors and treatment will include the use of preventative measures. This maybe by using padding, dressings, orthoses and pressure diverting silicone devices as necessary in each individual case.
Diabetic Foot Care
We offer regular diabetic foot care checks to alleviate any concerns you may have regarding the importance of looking after your feet. Diabetes can affect your sensations/feelings in your feet (peripheral neuropathy) and circulation (ischaemia). This is why it is important to receive regular check ups by a podiatrist/chiropodist or other health professional.
Fungal Nails
We can offer some treatment in respect of thinning the nails down mechanically and advise on further treatments you may need to address this condition. As treatment varies from simple topical applications, laser treatments to oral medication dependent on individual medical history and can be a long term application process.
Verrucae
Viral in nature this lesion is not easy to treat & especially stubborn in adults.
Cryotherapy (freezing) is available.
Thickened Nails
Usually caused by trauma, the thickening can be reduced with the use of a specialised burr, this prevents pressure issues underneath the nail plate which could otherwise cause problems in the long term if not treated.
Orthotics/Innersoles
This can range from something quite simple to a bespoke innersole dependent on individual patient need.
Nail Trimming
It may just be a case that you have lost some of the strength in your hands to be able to cut your own nails or a decrease in mobility which is the problem. Reduced vision could also be a simple reason for needing help with simple nail cutting.
Ingrowing Toenails
This condition can be very painful indeed and come on quickly. Finding a treatment option before an infection occurs is paramount to reduce the need for antibiotic medication. Conservative treatment will be always used initially. However, in very severe cases the nail may have to be removed as this maybe the only treatment option. We will endeavor to treat the nail in a conservative manner to hopefully keep the nail & negate the need for nail surgery.
Heel Pain
There are many causes of heel pain, one of the most common is plantar fasciitis, which can be helped by simple cushioning devices/orthotic use, however in some cases the need may arise for further treatments such as steroid injections.
CANCELLATION & NON-ATTENDANCE
Patients are reminded that a minimum of 24 hours notice is needed prior to their appointment, otherwise the full charge will be made, which must be paid before any future appointments will be given.
RESIDENTIAL / CARE HOMES
We attend several residential settings within the area, if you require further information or you are a care home owner please contact us for more information.
